Description
DAY 1 of EVENT (SHIFT EVENT)
The Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario is holding it's Annual General Meeting and Election of Officers at the Niagara Falls Scotiabank Convention Centre on February 10-12, 2012.
The Progressive Conservatives have supported us in the past and like the Liberal convention before it, this is another opportunity for our members to get the message out to another political party and it's supporters about the need to amend the Ombudsman Act to allow investigations of Hospitals, Long-Term Care and CAS.
This Event is to raise awareness about Ontario being the only Province in Canada NOT allowing oversight of Children’s Aid Societies. We demand Ontario's Ombudsman Act be amended to allow investigations of complaints against this public bodies.
We will also be raising awareness about the unlawful practice of social work by this private organization by handing out pamphlets.
We will also be collecting signatures on 3 separate petitions:
Petition 1) To keep CAS out of our schools
Petition 2) To make CAS workers registered with the College of Social Workers
Petition 3) To grant the Ombudsman powers to investigate CAS, Police, Hospitals, Ect.
IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO ATTEND... please take a moment to download the petitions below and get as many signatures as possible.

Public Event · By Jane Scharf and Paula Klee
Monday, February 20, 2012
12:00pm until 2:00pm
Meeting place at the corner of Rideau Street and Sussex Drive, Ottawa, Ontario
On Family Day those children who are under the so called "care" of the Children's Aid Society will not be having a visit with their family because the CAS has chosen to close their doors on Family Day. So in protest of this disrespect for the families CAS are serving we are holding a public information picket. We will be advising the public that CAS apprehends children without any evidence of abuse or neglect on a regular basis and that the number of child apprehensions have risen 130% since 2002. Large numbers of families are also reporting unfair treatment by the Family Courts.
This will be a family friendly protest that will take place beginning at 12:00 noon until 2:00 pm at the underpass corner of RIdeau and Sussex.

Ramoth House Rally for Oversight & Accountability
Public Event · By Zane Sherwood
| When | Friday, March 2, 2012
| | Time | 11:00am until 3:00pm
| | Where | Ramoth House, 119 Wellington W
|
Description
Are you a victim of Mount Forest's Ramoth House or know someone who is or was??? THIS RALLY IS FOR YOU
We are having a rally for Accountability outside Ramoth House because its is sanctioned by the CAS. Most residents are told to go there by CAS, girls who refuse are told CAS will apprehend their children. Yet most of these women do leave there with their child . There are cases where women were not allowed to go to the hospital when they had concerns as staff felt there was no need. Do these staff members have medical degrees? Having this rally to let the people know whats going on behind closed doors and to help avoid more innocent mothers losing their children.... This Womans Shelter is suppose to be there to help mothers with young children and all they are doing in most cases is tearing families apart ..When people graduate from the program only approximately 10% of them leave with their children. and approximately 90% of the mothers who are told they would be allowed to leave with their children walk out of there empty handed...
Ramoth House is run by volunteers who are not educated to be social workers, psychologists, doctors, etc. Yet prepare case notes for the society...
Based on this information we need oversight, accountability, and transparency....
So we are asking everyone to come out and show your support for these single mothers who are trying to keep their children.. And LETS stop Ramoth house and the children's aid societies from their child abductions and lies....

Rally Etiquette (Updated Jan 2012)
- Rallies are to be peaceful protests. Please refrain from profanities, hand gestures and name calling to other members of the rally, police and Children's Aid Workers.
- Rallies are to only be done on public property. When at a rally unless specified by the rally organizer please remain on the sidewalks at all times.
- When media attends a rally a designated spokesperson, such as the rally organizer or media spokesperson will handle it, they will speak to the media first and foremost. This is so that the whole cause is addressed and not about personal stories. If, after the spokesperson has completed their dialogue with the reporter and, the reporter wants personal stories then ralliers can proceed one at a time to tell their stories. From previous experience the personal stories do not get published anyways and it just makes it look like you are a disgruntled parent with a beef.
- If the ralliers use profanities to other members, the police or C.A.S. workers you will be asked to leave. We are out to do these rallies professionally for the greater good of the cause. If the rallies are not done professionally then all the hard work done by the members who are doing them professionally are undermined and moving the movement backwards instead of forwards.
